About

I'm Passionate about design. Here are some things I've been up to.

Product designer

I'm an Intermediate Product Designer at ezyVet (acquired by IDEXX). My team, Vet Radar, develops a B2B SaaS product designed for veterinary practitioners to manage and treat patients’ entire journeys in the hospital.

I'm enamored by our mission of striving for premium patient safety and making the lives of busy veterinary practitioners easier.

UXA Organiser

I am a volunteer event organizer for the UX Auckland community. We strive for monthly events for all UX professionals.

I enjoy being actively involved in (and helping grow) the UX community in Auckland. In this photo, I present how our UX team works at ezyVet, during an event hosted in the ezyVet office.

Other involvement

I do some other cool stuff like freelance, hackathons, teach my wannabe UX friends, and write medium articles. I also did one year of Toastmasters and enjoy challenging myself by public speaking! (I'm not good but I enjoy a challenge).

In this photo, I was invited by AUT's Computer Science & Engineering Association to give a presentation on UX in the real world.

My Design Philosophy

My favourite definition of design:
Design is the act of intentionally trying to influence an outcome.

My Design Philosophy

My favourite definition of design:
Design is the act of intentionally trying to influence an outcome.

1. Designers are Time Travelers

Product designers possess a superpower no other role in the business can: we can quickly and cheaply show people the future.

Early and often, I manifest ideas into glimpses of reality, helping my stakeholders see a potential path forward. I wrote a Medium article about this.

2. Design with Pragmatism

The hallmark of a strong product designer doesn’t just think about user needs, but also business needs and technical constraints.

The amount of research done should be directly correlated to the business impact, developmental effort, and risk of the design.

3. Empathy for people

The essence of design is to create better outcomes for people.

Rather than following market trends, obsessing over competitors, and blindly listening to internal stakeholders, the best design decisions come from understanding the user’s needs first.

Outside of work

Outside of work I enjoy travelling, photography, and introverted activities like reading, chess, and video games.
